Bboy Jeffro, Jeffrey Louis

Overview

Breakin’ Hearts is a 10 episode narrative documentary podcast that follows the story of Jeffrey "Bboy Jeffro" Louis, a Houston-native, Haitian-American breaker, and Team USA member, as he trains and competes for a spot in the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, France, where breaking will make its Olympic debut.

The series will explore Jeffro’s life inside and outside of breaking, as he overcomes injuries, major losses, self-doubt, and the pressure of potentially being the first US bboy to represent his country and crew on the most prestigious athletic stage in the world. His journey is marked by the complex tension of competing against those with whom he's trained and developed close friendships for a coveted spot at the Olympics. These relationships paint a vivid picture of the emotional stakes involved, and the universal themes of connection, competition, and personal growth.

Breakin’ Hearts is a story about grit, determination, perseverance, and the power of breaking to bring people together. It takes a nuanced look at the ongoing debate about cultural preservation and the delicate balance between honoring tradition and risking exploitation. It's about the impact of relationships, personal evolution, and the triumph of the human spirit. It is a must-listen for anyone who loves hip hop, breaking, sports, or inspiring stories.
